Video, Filmmaking and Multimedia Words and Terms

Line level – a range of audio levels typical to the inputs and outputs of audio equipment. The line level is higher than photo or mic levels but lower than speaker levels.

Line-out jack – an output connection on a electrical device that bypasses that devices amplifier and provides the signal being generated by the device to an outside source.

Line-in jack – and an input connection designed to accept the output from another compatible device.
