Hi, my name is Dan Griego...
I am the publisher and editor of... VideoEditingSage.com...
Welcome to my site!
I want to tell you a bit about myself, this website and why I created it.
First of all… and most important… I have a passion for great films and video! I love to watch them and I love to create them!
As a youngster I always enjoyed taking still pictures but... Back then... In the 50s we didn't have too much in the way of portable movie cameras... But.. As luck would have it my family bought a 8 mm movie camera to make home movies and that was all it took to start me on a love affair with making movies.
I didn't start formal training in photography and other forms of imagery until the early 70s when I went into the U.S. Army.
I was assigned to an aerial reconnaissance unit and
trained in all aspects of imaging from still photography, video,
infrared imagery to imaging with radar. I did this for several years. It
was a great experience and I had some very good teachers along the way!
After leaving the service...I took the experience and knowledge that I gained in the Army, went back to college, and studied video camera techniques and video production for television.
Living here in Los Angeles California, I had an opportunity to take that knowledge and put it to good use working in both the entertainment industry and in my own private business.
Now that I'm semi-retired… I have time to share some of the knowledge and experience that I've gained over the years on this subject by creating this site.
I love it when I can help someone do something they really like to do! Now that I have the time to create this website it's a pleasure for me to help individuals, with the same passion for video production as I have, to create wonderful videos.
With the dramatic change in the power of digital technology... Small low-cost camcorders and mobile digital devices with powerful video capturing capability (and in some cases video editing ability) that far exceeds anything that is come before, there has been a revolution in video making.
Powerful desktop or laptop computers and the newest video editing software now give the present day video editor a wonderful choice of tools that a Hollywood professional video editor back in the 70s could only dream of.
Home video production is easier than ever. With the advent of YouTube, and other similar video sharing platforms on the Internet, a video producer can, in short order, have a worldwide audience. And all of this can all be done without expensive and specialized video editing equipment!
Pretty cool…Huh…! It would've been hard for me to imagine back in the 1970s when I first got into the video and TV production business that the mobile digital devices these days would have more computing power, picture clarity and video editing capability than some of the big, bulky, power-hungry specialized video equipment of that era.
We have come a long way technology-wise but, most aspects of how you shoot video, how you video edit and what it takes to put a video production together have not changed all that much over the years. They do take a little bit of study and understanding however before you can make them work for you.
And that's what this site is all about... The information and techniques of how you shoot, edit and produce a great video!
My philosophy in creating this website is that... Working with any art or technology does take know-how.
You still have to know what you're doing! But… If you do know how to do something (and can do it!) you can create great things!
I also know that when you're trying to learn something new – things can get very confusing sometimes and a little help is needed.
That's what this site is all about... a little help with making it possible for you the reader, you the video producer (and especially the do-it-yourself video producer), to create great videos without a big investment of time and money.
There's a great sense of satisfaction when you produce a great video and you see the reaction of pleasure in your audience.
The goal of this site is to help you gain the tools and know-how so that you can create that effect on your audience.
I would love to hear from you the reader. I want to hear your experiences, your ideas and have you share your expertise in the field with everyone who reads this site. I also want to invite you to give your thoughts and opinions, ask questions, and in general... start a conversation about all the things that go into producing a video.
I've always been able to learn a great deal by exchanging ideas and I would like this site to be a place where great ideas about video editing, camerawork and video production are exchanged.
Share It Here!
You can also contact me through the site's Contact page and share your thoughts, ideas or experiences with and about video production.
Again... I would love to hear from you…!
I hope you enjoy reading the articles and finding answers to your questions about digital video editing, digital video cameras , camerawork and the video production process on this site as much as I enjoy doing it and writing about it!
So... Welcome to VideoEditingSage.com...!
Thanks for coming by... I hope you enjoy the rest of my site...!(Top of Page)
Have fun...! Dan
